Giuseppe Palermo - No Time No Space

Art Direction[Music / Visual Identity]2022

Art direction and cover design for Giuseppe Palermo’s EP No Time & No Space.

The project explores the relationship between analog and digital, transforming the record into an abstract, suspended form. Through painterly interventions on the vinyl surface, the cover translates the ethereal atmosphere of electronic music into an image that feels both physical and immaterial.

The music project required an image capable of communicating the dreamlike and ethereal quality of the sound while maintaining a connection to the physical culture of records and vinyl. The EP title also introduced two abstract concepts: time and space, that were difficult to represent through a literal image.

The challenge was to connect two seemingly opposing dimensions: the nostalgic physicality of the analogue record and the intangible nature of the digital world. The cover also needed to function as an autonomous artwork, moving beyond a simple visual representation of the musical genre.

I used the record itself as a painting surface, working directly on it with brushes, palette knives, and acrylic paint. The analogue material was then digitally processed, generating an abstract form suspended without clear temporal references. The final image visualizes the idea of “freezing time,” transforming a physical object into an immaterial presence.
